We want to make a difference, not just a profit. Ocean plastic is a Great Lakes, United States and global problem, and some areas are more impacted than others. We want to make an impact in our local community of Muskegon, Michigan, to the Great Lakes surrounding this beatify state to the oceans we love and need to protect.
10% of all Clean Ocean Clothing sales goes to education and clean-up of plastics with Plastic Pollution Coalition. In 2018, we have gave over $500 to help protect the ocean and water that we all love. We have donated over $250 in apparel for organizations like Sustainable Cebu, The Ocean Run, Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce, and Muskegon Farmers Market.
As a company owned and run by a handful of Michigan natives, it’s our wish that everything we source be as local and sustainable as possible. We design and print all of our products right here in Michigan, and source our garments through Alternative Apparel®. We use Ecoenclose for all our packaging to reduce our carbon footprint.
Our goal is to donate $10,000 by 2020. By the end of 2018, I am hoping to have helped ban all plastic straws from restaurants in my community.
